All dogs in New York State, over the age of four (4) months must be licensed. Each licensed dog is assigned an identification number once registered, it is unique to the dog and never changes. The identification number is assigned on the license tag, which should be affixed to the dog's collar. The dog's identifying information is kept in a computerized database that can be accessed should your dog ever become lost.
Proof of a rabies vaccination from a veterinarian is required along with a certificate of spay or neutering. The rabies certificate must contain the date the shot was given and the expiration. For dogs that are unable to receive a rabies shot, a Certificate of Exemption from Rabies Vaccination MUST be completed by the attending veterinarian and the dog owner.
Livingston County holds a Free Rabies Clinic every year at various locations starting in May. The list of dates and locations gets published in the Mount Morris shopper one month prior to the clinic.
Dog licenses must be renewed every year and the fees are as follows:
(Cash or Check payable to: Nunda Town Clerk)
- Spayed / Neutered dogs: $10.00
- Unspayed / Non-neutered dogs: $15.00
